Stars, Stripes and Style: Your Guide to Festive, Fourth of July Fashion
I love a theme, especially when a holiday rolls around, and what better holiday to serve up a slice of Americana than July 4th?! I typically bust out the Stars and Stripes by the second week of June to give them a good run. A collection of red, white, and blue gear lends itself to classic dressing, with pieces from a capsule wardrobe that work year after year! Whether you’re planning an at-home picnic or you’ve scored an invite to someone’s boat, here’s some inspiration for all different types of celebrations:
On the Farm
A down-home celebration calls for casual dress and keeping cool. It’s tough to think beyond something plaid or gingham, so here are some pieces I’m loving in this style: gingham pants; shirt dress; maxi dress or this blouse
Country Club Party
Chances are you’re going for a “see and be seen” look. Opt for a classic, statement dress like this shift, this or this. Or, now that graduation season is over, here’s your chance to wear that white dress! Pair it with some patriotic shoes like these and a clutch for an easy and elevated look.
City Celebration
Ditch the country florals and opt for a more modern, edgy look. I love this knit top paired with cropped denim and these sandals.
Pool Party
This is the kind of gathering where there’s a pool, but the chances of you swimming are slim! Go for a Dress that doubles as a cover-up for an “I’m-at-a-pool-party-but-not-going-in-the-water” look.
Town Parade
If you’re spectating floats and hometown marching bands, chances are you’re also juggling kids and running after them. Think easy, airy, and moveable for chasing littles. This top with these denim bermudas or white shorts is a great option.
On the Water
Unleash your inner nautical spirit for your on-the-boat celebration. You’ll likely need to be swimsuit-clad, so I’m loving this swimsuit and cover-up for setting sail. If you want to lean into your inner sailor, this cardigan is your answer.
At-Home Picnic
If you’re the one hosting, here’s your moment to set the stage and bring the theme! Go for effortless attire for running around replenishing treats, like this dress or this dress. I also love a shirtdress like this for cool, casual comfort!
Have a safe and festive 4th celebration and remember that you can never wear too much red, white & blue!
